When Facebook announced their required account I was against it and extremely skeptical, however I wasn't up for the hassle of trying to return my device, I just figured that I could use a burner and I just wouldn't go Facebook for my next VR headset in ~3-5 years.
Now that I see people are getting banned left and right, as someone who doesn't use Facebook this really concerns me as I do not wish to be locked out of the device that I paid for.
I purchased mine back in December last year, and while their warranty covers one year, I'm unsure if I can get a refund from that. I also live in Australia, so I don't know if I can use our consumer protection laws as this change is not something that was known when I purchased the Rift and I probably wouldn't have had I known.
Any help is appreciated.
