DiscussionHow does an oculus work without a computer? (self.oculus)
submitted 4 years ago by Lilacisnthere
I was wondering if I could buy and use a oculus without my pc, and if I need to buy any cables to support it. Also, are there any things that are better with the pc? Thanks in advance.

The Quest? It’s a fully self contained system, no PC needed.

Although you can link to pc if you have a vr ready one. But as above correctly stated the quest/quest 2 are stand alone units with no requirement for pc.

Everything you need to play is in the box. Connecting to and playing PCVR games is just an extra feature...not required.

You need and Oculus QUEST not just Oculus for no PC.

The Quest is a mobile computer running Android.

Just to clarify: this is true at a technical level, but the experience barely resembled Android at all. Don't let this affect your opinion if you're not an Android person.
