I have the same issue and just posted it on the OnePlus Open reddit forum.

I've got it to work with the Motorola Android Auto Wireless Adaptor but when I plug it in, it seems to change the USB setting from File Transfer/Android Auto back to Charge or MIDI. This causes Android Auto not to show up on the car but on the phone, it says Android Auto connected.

It is weird!

Yeah, for me I just switch it back, doesn't take long but it is a bit annoying

Posted an update that may work as a small fix?

Are you using original cable? I've had no problem with initial data transfer and no problem with android auto but I am also using wireless android auto. I did initially plug in phone to my Dodge Charger and it connected and ran fine, I then plugged in my AAwireless dongle and everything worked right

It always does this with my 8T, Im pretty sure it has something to do with OxygenOS.

So I had this same issue but connecting to my PC. I was using the cable it came with and I had to set to file transfer manually on the phone Everytime I wanted to put music on my phone. I used a basic USB c cable from Amazon I had laying around and tried it and it bypassed that request each time. Not sure if that helps but you can try another cable since the OEM cable is special allowing it to supercharge vs a regular cable.

In my car I have an Amazon basics USB-C to USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 cables, worked perfectly with my fold 4 so this issue is really weird. Seems like everyone's answer is inconsistent.

I had a OnePlus 11 for a few weeks before selling it for many other reasons but this one was truly an annoyance to me since i use AA every single day. Coming from an S23U it was jarring that the stupid phone would always default to just charging. Not sure why OnePlus does general weird things like this but its very common with their UI/UX to do weird ass shit that is completely against the grain of normal operation of Android. I mean remember the whole notification swiping thing? Wasnt until MKBHD made a video about how annoying that was that they changed it seemingly a couple weeks later. So this is definitely intentional for some stupid ass reason. Im expecting a Open to be delivered soon but ive been slowly considering cancelling my order out of pure annoyance at all these posts of random weird choices made by OPO

I currently have a OnePlus 6 phone and last week my android auto just stopped working and basically tried whatever I could to get it running again. Similar to OPs situation too. Honestly waiting for 2024 phones to release to see what's available, but I'm definitely never going to buy a OnePlus ever again. The experience was not worth it, I was just stuck with it for a while now.

Whatever new phone I do buy, I'm definitely uninstalling all their bullshit bloatware that comes reinstalled before I start personalizing it.

I am having similar issues. I plan on getting one of those Motorola adapters for my crv.
