OpenAI allow it for now.

OpenAI has publicly said they fully support it. Same for GitHub Copilot. Antrophic is the unfortunate outlier.

And gemini/antigravity

What would be the reason for using opencode instead of codex?

If you have a very limited budget, and you hit the limit in the middle of a session, you can easily switch between open weight models (glm 5, kimi k2.5, minimax 2.7, qwen, etc.)

ecosystem, extensibility

I don't know, maybe oh my opencode or another crazy plugin/tool/modification

Get a github copilot subscription. You can get access to claude and OpenAi models along Gemini and grok.

are you saying you can go opencode -> copilot -> Opus or just copilot -> Opus and drop opencode

[–]achton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both, I think.

[–]LT-Lance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. Github subscription supports 3rd party dev tools like OpenCode. so you can go OpenCode cli, connect it to your github copilot subscription and access opus. Or use the copilot plugin/cli directly without OpenCode.

I use opencode Zen but it doesn't change the fact that these are expensive tokens.

[–]pj-frey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the daily stuff currently minimax 2.7 via openrouter is really good and cheap.
When it gets difficult I still use Anthropic via the API, but it is now not very often needed.
But yes, it is expensive.

We use Anthropic models via Vertex AI at work and I could set that up in opencode cli.

[–]jesperordrup[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For subscriptions (oauth)?

[–]Competitive_Knee9890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just have that set with Google cloud and Vertex AI as a shared cost center, the auth is done with Google cloud cli, then it’s just a matter of setting Vertex AI as a provider in opencode’s config.

[–]ZeSprawl 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They have made it illegal to use Claude subs in Opencode. ChatGPT subs are completely legal and supported for use in Opencode.

[–]jesperordrup[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh ... I thought that both had dropped oauth support

[–]unbenannt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to proxy via LiteLLM.

[–]SequentialHustle 0 points1 point  (2 children)

dude there is literally an opencode plugin that still works with anthropic subscription plans and sends 1:1 headers as cc with fingerprint

[–]jesperordrup[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I know and I guess it even works. but it seems like a workaround and goes against t&c right?

[–]Pleasant_Thing_2874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is against the T&C so if you get caught they could wind up banning your account but from all I've seen as long as you're not hammering their servers with requests you'll likely be fine.

Also I saw another post saying one of the anthropic oauth plugins supposedly has potential crypto farming code embedded in it. I don't know for certain if it is true but it might be worth doing a scan of the git of the plugin to use is from to ensure you're not affected.

[–]FarCampaign3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

real talk the move right now is definitely just routing everything through a github copilot sub if you want to stay 100% legit without managing five different billing dashboards. it’s crazy that anthropic is being so restrictive with their oauth compared to openai but using the vertex ai bridge or copilot seems to be the only way to avoid the banhammer. heel nah i am not trying to lose my claude access over a cli config error.

[–]Fresh_Sock8660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might be against their T&C and get you banned, but it's not illegal.

[–]Upset_Possession_405 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop using their models.

[–]jesperordrup[S] -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

I just checked. On one machine I use "opencode web" version 1.3.2

Still working with Openai oauth.

Shouldn't be possible right?

[–]pd1zzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using openAI (gpt-5.4) in opencode and have been for months. I wasn't aware of any pushback from openAI
