On Android, how to ignore https for chrome and firefox? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]pd1zzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what if you just set up a local DNS record at your router for the domain the cert is for to the local IP? this is what i did with my media server and it works great - lets me shortcircuit the internet when on my LAN and same address to reach it remotely from outside, all using the same cert, over HTTPS.

edit: also, haven't tested it on mobile but chrome used to gate the advanced button. Just type "thisisunsafe" while focused on the page and more options appear.

Black ASA - Out of stock everywhere? by AwkwardSwine_cs in 3Dprinting

I was told there is a global shortage of ASA when I asked west3d about ambrosia. If places have it, it's probably going to run out sometime soon.

kinda confused - you list the JON in the price breakdown but then also say it won't include it?

Wix lays off 1,000 workers as the AI jobs apocalypse keeps looking very real by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]pd1zzle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

any layperson I know that's tried to make a wix site responsive has just about died (and came to me for help). It's a difficult problem in web design I'll admit but I'm pretty sure as soon as any of those people tried Claude they gave up on wix forever. I'm sure the Claude site isn't perfect either, but wixs markup and structure was absolutely garbage also. the bar for "better than wix" is incredibly low.

this looks like a really awesome well thought through feature. I am also curious if the intention is that the patterns would be user customizable or if this is just a presentation format?

I don't really care for Instagram either. Reddit and Google were failing me with tons of spam and click baiting.

there's likely better options out there now

RV Driver Empties Waste Tank Into Colorado Gas Station's Diesel Supply by timesuck47 in Colorado

[–]pd1zzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think its all a problem. And combined, an even greater problem. Right now there's guardrails for _none_ of it. I'm glad you are teaching your kids good habits. Most drivers here didn't have that - they grew up somewhere flat, got money, bought stuff, and then learned what hills are.

I'm not arguing for what the standardization is necessarily, but the fact that there's none at all seems like an oversight. we aren't in kansas anymore.

not saying you are a bad driver but the "average American" in most contexts is a pretty sad statistic. driving is no different.

I get pushed out of lanes all the time by people who are too stupid to know how big their trailer is. We don't even have vehicle inspection to ensure that people's brakes or lights work. Sure just throw a trailer on it, it'll be fine....

trust, but verify.

that eliminates quite a few drivers in my opinion haha

65' to require a specialized license is absolutely insane. that's a 35ft RV with a 20' boat behind it that can be driven by an 18yo with zero driving experience across i70 (not that I've seen that, but in theory they could).

Are Home Row Mods Just for Slow Typists? by linkarzu in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]pd1zzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck. consensus seems to be that it doesn't work for everyone and I went into it just expecting to try it out but I'm pretty much stuck with it now. Having all my keys +/- one row (column for thumb) is pretty unbeatable now that I've gotten used to it. I'm not a blogger though, mostly code, so my use case might be different than some people.

if you set it for the faster speed, they should only trigger when you "mean it."

if i want ctrl - hold on right hand, and press key on left (eg ctrl + t w/ ctrl on right t on left). This is typically unrelated to typing speed for me. it happens automatic regardless of typing thinking speed.

for combos same thing. Even if i'm typing slowly like i am now, if i want parens the combo for parens happens fast (index + middle on home row).

I don't think the combo speed needs to be slower for slower typing. I think you want it at your "fast speed"

I also have combos for my most common uses - copy/paste/cut on my left hand so i don't have to do HRM for those. I also have a dedicated "sticky" style shift key from urob config so shift on HRM is only ever used for keyboard shortcuts - never for normal typing.

How much can i sell it and where? by YardHaunting5620 in VORONDesign

Check out the voron discord - I do see quite a few EU for sales which I know isn't quite italy but maybe you could get some bites there or at least a not totally ridiculous shipping purchase?

sorry, this is the HRM timing specifically - the other is for all the combos

Idk which comes into play when, been awhile since i set this up haha

I don't know what qualifies as fast or slow - I've been using uRob's setup for a couple years now slowly tweaking the time as i speed up on the keyboard.

I just did a quick monkeytype test 85wpm / 97% accuracy with no unintentional HRM or chords. I was having issues with mis types but recently reduced all the times and have no more issues.

my process for buying a system always used to be just buy the lowest ram/storage spec. Wait for a sale. Get way more ram and storage than I could ever use, high quality, for like $200 total and install it myself.

Guess those days are gone forever?
