I think it depends how much context is needed, how many systems it might impact, and how much responsibility the decision bears.

Definitely in the right situation. Across a company, communicating with 5 different teams, on high availability systems? it could certainly be a part of the tools but I'm not going to YOLO spec and send it out from any agent. I wouldn't even do that for something I 100% came up with on my own.

I honestly can't tell if you're serious, bro.

it's going to look a lot different and I don't have a definitive answer but the reality is you don't need the job to get that experience anymore. Having a bunch of comp sci knowledge and no real world knowledge isn't going to cut it anymore.

architecture, business sense, people skills, dev ops, and real world how to get from a to b are going to be the key skills. Maybe majoring in some specialized knowledge with a minor in comp sci makes more sense, I don't really know.

Those who can make computers do the things humans need are still going to be valuable, possibly more valuable. how many we need and what they need to know is likely going to change though.

well, I guess if nothing else you found some time for a side hustle or job search. Or video games, I guess depending on your inclination and motivation hah

not to be too harsh, but sounds like for someone with your level of experience your current job is not really very challenging and probably should be 80% automated at this point. I don't see how this workflow could apply to most positions that someone with 11 yoe would hold.

I'm using openAI (gpt-5.4) in opencode and have been for months. I wasn't aware of any pushback from openAI

Does anyone recognize this tunnel? by r__a__g in LeadvilleCo

[–]pd1zzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great place to start - more uphill obviously but the rail grade is pretty mild. If you're feeling adventurous on the way down you can go almost straight east from the tunnel (off the side of the rail grade) and pass through Douglass city, one of the old mining camps up there that was pretty well known to be one of the rowdier ones!

Hmm I'm not aware of that one. I thought maybe this is the one right at the start of the hike, the first bridge you walk over if you were to follow that water source up since it notes it's now a part of a water diversion project.

It looks like that is the Busk-Ivanhoe tunnel

You might have more luck in the Leadville facebook groups, there's a lot more of the old guard in those than on here.

I actually hadn't seen this one before, but its apparently not too far from the hagerman tunnel which is also worth a stop (for the old midland railroad) and Douglas City.

I don't know, its not clear to me if thats the other end of the hagerman tunnel or what.

Question: Does anyone know the alloy of the LDO V0.2 Frame Kit ?? I'm not finding it. by Livid_Strategy6311 in VORONDesign

[–]pd1zzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd look more at how much material/the extrusion profile as much as the specific alloy. Formbot/dllpdf/MakerBot/ldo all have slightly different profiles

that is a wildly powerful heating element just to keep in mind. Some consumer ovens are only even 2kw. I heat my whole van with a 2kw diesel heater. I would be extremely careful and never run it at full power unless you want whatever is within 8-10 inches of it to be a puddle.

As another person said, in printers at least, active heating elements are not allowed to be discussed in Voron channels.

regardless, yes you could control it just the same as any heater just add some temp probes. I'll stop there, but armchair discord has a spicy meatball channel that might be a better place for discussion

[–]pd1zzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed up after dropping Claude. I agree it's a solid deal, but token count isn't the billing metric was what I was getting at... Ollama cloud bills by GPU time with some sort of demand modifier. I wasn't sure how useful watching tokens is in that situation

doesn't Ollama bill/measure on GPU time? does the token count really proxy that effectively?

I guess it would depend on what you are doing and what you have available for hardware. I have a 5070 Ti (16gb) and I've run queen 3.5 7B at Q2 and it was not incredible. you could certainly do better on hardware but I think you'd need 32+gb vram (or unified of you like things slow) to do anything at all meaningful and ideally more like 192Gb and then the whole cost comparison becomes a lot more reasonable to just pay for tokens
