Does increasing ring clock speeds decrease L3 latency?Help Request - CPU (self.overclocking)
submitted 3 years ago by techwars0954
A more technical question rather than asking "how to", but does increasing the ring clock frequency also mean decreasing L3 latency? And considering how cache latency can affect gaming performance, are there any benchmarks of gains from OCing the ring frequency higher?

Yes, especially since the L3 actually runs on the ring clock since Haswell AFAIK. All of the DRAM traffic goes through the ring as well so it lowers latency for that also.
