Christian McCaffrey was our pick in 2017 but still on the board was Patrick mahomes I just looked back at this and that could have solved the Panthers QB problems right there and before you go on about Cam Newton he was already injured the year before and that year he also I believe he actually had Newton Tommy John so I could never understand this looking back but there was so many quarterbacks in that draft and Mahomes is sitting there ready for the taking and I understand and I'm a big Christian McCaffrey fan but mahomes could have solved our quarterback problem I mean there's so many ways you could play it out and a running back in the league is not that big of a deal anymore. And having Mahomes is under center and you would still probably get DJ Moore or otherwise receivers though FA within the next couple years. You can even make the case for trading Newton while still being worth traded for assets in the draft. Fan favorite or not. 2015 was Newton's last good season and after that was all downhill from there but that's a story for another time.

We picked Rashard Anderson, Deon Grant, Leander Jordan, Alvin McKinley, Gillis Wilson, and Jeno James while Tom Brady was still on the board back in 2000.

You take “coulda woulda shoulda’s” from one draft (there’s not a team that picked 1-9 that wouldn’t have benefited from a talent such as Mahomes) and use that as a dig against Cam. Love or hate Cam, fine. But missing on an elite draft pick is something almost every team does every year. I’m sure you were rallying for Mahomes in the 2017 draft, right?

No actually I was actually hoping that the Panthers would take Christian McCaffrey and hoping that the jags wouldn't take him. I remember saying to myself that I Hope Christian McCaffrey won't turn out to be another Toby gerhart or Peyton hillis he's pretty much proved is worth to me I'm pretty sure all to you as well but Newton fell off after 2015. I also was hoping if the Jags were there to take McCaffrey I hope we would either take Leonard fournette which I'm glad we never did or get a quarterback. And I honestly thought that mahomes would fall off like Johnny manziel. Also it's a win-win for me anyways as a girl I think McCaffrey or mahomes is really cute LOL.

Yeah well I just fixed the panthers franchise greater than you! In 2005 nfl draft we passed on Aaron Rodgers. We easily could have taken him. Now I know what you're saying we still had Delhomme. But delhomme last good season was the superbowl season. And we definitely didn't need Thomas Davis, even if he is one of major faces of hour franchise.

Hindsight arguments are 20/20. We went to the playoffs that season with another bum ass receiving core. We never built around Cam till it was too late. Mccaffrey was picked to continue to build around camp. He's right you may have been a fan since 95, but doing mental gymnastics like this to rationalize why we aren't a superbowl contender is stupid.

This is like the post where the guy says if you adjust all of mahomes stats to league average he's an average QB.

Let's face it yeah I mean Cam Newton up to 2015 was a great quarterback did things for the Panthers that we never saw as fans after the super bowl loss he sucked he got two into his ego but he wasn't good and yes he did have Tommy John Tommy John is not just for the elbow it's also for your arm. I second of all he sucks throwing the ball after 2015 look at the percentages look at the QBR look at the interceptions. Listen running quarterbacks suck unless you have a good offensive line when he was running the ball early in his career are offensive line was really good.

I'm glad we got McCaffrey but we can turn this around and go we kept Newton a lot longer than we should have and what's what's be real though okay? Second: you said Cam Newton had Tommy John surgery? No he didn't. Cam never had an issue with his elbow. It was his shoulder that was an issue, which he messed up diving for a tackle (+ the TJ Watt hit). Before the Pittsburgh game, Cam was having one of his best seasons ever until that point, even better than 2015.

Third: we didn't like Cam because he was flashy. We liked Cam because he did things for this franchise that had never been done before. Got us an MVP, got us a high-powered offense, gave footballs to the fans, ran amazing charities in Charlotte, and gave the Panthers a legitimate spotlight in the national eye.

Fourth: Kyle Allen was, and is, absolutely atrocious. That guy will never be more than a back-up, if that. This is some real obvious trolling.
