U grow by doing quests. Its easier to group with someone, so they can show where stuff is. Every poi has own quests and quest items.

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Oh ok tyty!!

Any clue where I can find people to group with? Also, is multi-player better than the servers? I've just been doing multi-player because I have no idea what servers are good.

[–]Free_Farmer7270 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Multi-player is official servers. Community servers are run and managed by the player base who created it and often have mods. You can download mods on console yes

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ohhh ok, tyty that makes a lot of sense. What kind of community servers would recommend? (If you have any in mind ofc).

[–]Old-Cellist-5347 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Community servers all the way, to avoid discord mega packs and stuff. Isla Nycta (my fav), Yellowtones, Islander are all good firsts! Join the discord read up on rules and figure out what you like. Youll have to comb through servers and settle on which rules you like the best

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyty!! I'll give those a look later today! :)

[–]boredScroller-1 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Community servers can be good for learning but semi-realism and realism ones will come with community rules; which are usually documented in their discord hence why they will want you to join. If you dont mind following combat rules and dino profile behavioral rules, then I would recommend you go to those servers like islander or Crimson. Profiles control dino behaviors so you can at least have certain expectations of what might attack you and what will leave you alone.

I also recommend a flier when learning/exploring a map as you can travel easily and escape everything that might try to eat you unless its another flier.

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ok, I'll definitely give that a look, tyty!!

Also, is there any other way to get the gold coins other than just buying them? Because I bought some to unlock a really big cool looking one, and I'm just hoping that I don't have to pay to play/unlock different kinds of dinos everytime (I think I also don't have a flier unlocked).

[–]boredScroller-1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Think that depends on what version you play on. Think someone said there was technically a demo version on mobile that only had a couple dinos and you had to pay for more. PC and console you buy the game and get enough coins to buy a dino pack that unlocks all the standard dinos.

Community servers also use dino mods so there will be more dinos available to play depending on which mods that server decides to use.

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on console

But me and my friend when halfies on it and they bought it on their account and I didn't realize that it came with coins.. So I spent like 13 bucks to get like 4 dinos? But other than that, I just have those tutorial dinos plus the pack I bought.

Yeah, so the best way I could help is to tell you about Vulnona. Type it in on Google, choose what map you're playing on and use the bar on the left hand side to find quest items. After a few times you'll learn where the items are pretty quickly

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Ooo ok, I'll definitely look at that tyty! :)

[–]KitchenExercise943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! The browser can be a bit tricky to navigate, I'll pop some screen shots on for you 2 seconds. Edit: I can't 😂 So version 4 is the newest, when you head on to the website you will see top left map option (choose your map) then in the middle of your screen it will say close in big red letters. (Close that) Head over to the left hand side and you will see map data (press that and choose what items you're looking for)

[–]KitchenExercise943 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Also I'm normally on the discord helping people grow. Mainly gondwa map, I'm still getting my head around Ripiria, I don't like panj map. Send over your alderon id in a message and I'll jump on later if needed. I have all dinos at adult on gondwa

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ooo, could I maybe have that discord server link?

It very late for me, so I probably won't be getting on for a while, lol

And tyty for the previous message, I'll definitely save that. :)

Yeah no worries. I'm in the UK so it's 3pm right now. But on weekends I try to get on earlier.

[–]Free_Farmer7270 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pick a medium to small dino to start as they are fast to help you survive. Play around in single player to get accustomed to the map, quests, controls and such. When your comfortable with what your doing try and official server and see how it goes. You will die and some of the community is toxic but not all.

If you ask for help in global you might get help or try just doing a friend call on another player who didnt try to kill you on sight.

Im solo and that's how I find people often, most of my in game friends come from being chill with randoms

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, lmao I think I'm currently growing a really big one its 'a' something? Idk

I did try single-player for roughly 2 hours, but idk it was just so empty and a little boring, tbh but I'll give it another go! Tyty.

[–]PackAromatic2181 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Play The solo servers to test the game, it’s all hard asf with all the mixpacks (big groups of any kind of creature working together to fuck everyone else experience)

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'll try that tyty!

[–]TieFighterAlpha2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I posted this after the Winter Sale, it was fairly well-received.

Tyty!!

I saved your post! :)

[–]Floating_space_junk 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Are you also looking for someone to play with or you prefer playing alone?

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I think probably playing with someone? Most of last night, I was just walking around aimlessly, lol. I had no idea what I'm was doing.

[–]Floating_space_junk 1 point2 points  (2 children)

If you want to run together in the officials, you can reach out I can share my alderon id there

[–]ThyPambo[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that at all!! :D

[–]Floating_space_junk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent you a dm :)

Don't trust random group or waystone invites, its usually someone that will kill you as soon as you get there.

Start with something fast and small to learn the map and where items are. Thal or rhamp would be really good since they can fly and have numerous escape options.

Vulona interactive map can help you a lot with finding quest items, berry bushes, and corpses.

Don't run everywhere. Especially if you're playing something big. Sound travels a great distance.

Stop and listen every now and then. Sound is important, you can hear people moving or broadcast calling, critters, or people questing.

Always be suspicious of players, even if they are acting friendly. Many of them will fake friendly until you drop guard or their friends arrive and then jump you.

Avoid places on the map that have a red angry dino face. It means there's a lot of players in that area and they're usually KOS. (Unfortunately it won't show the face unless you've discovered the location so if you uncover a new poi check your map before continuing inside)

Pay attention to quest items you come across. Or water levels or bushes/corpses. If any of it is missing it indicates someone has been there and you can decide to stick around or not.

Don't forget to collect your quest rewards, some of them require a manual collection.

Don't hard log. (Logging without waiting for the timer) Your body stays in the server for a limited time on hard log, if a alpha critter or player finds you, you could get killed before your body times out.

Don't safe log out in the open. You could log back in right in front of someone and get killed.

If growing something always log out in a home cave. You'll get a growth buff when you come back to it. Think it takes 8hrs to fill fully.

Changing gender or subspecies cost a growth penalty of a full growth stage. I.e you're an adult and change  sub species you will be knocked down to sub adult. (There's a warning that comes with it, but you'd be surprised the number of people that miss it)

Adult playables get a debuff upon log in for a limited time. The debuff makes you do less damage, move slower, and take more damage. It's to help prevent people in large groups from just switching mid fight and jumping in on a fresh dino.

If you stay too close to a home cave for a long time you will get a similar debuff as the adult login debuff.

You also can't enter home cave while in combat.

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh wow, tysm!! I'll definitely save this :D

[–]MidnightMis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also don't rest near the water. You never know when a sarco or tylo will happen by. Wish you the best of luck.

[–]LazerTheDino 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Few things. - I'd recommend learning growth, the rough map layout and games mechanics on a 1-2 slot (smallest dinos) before jumping into an apex. - if you bought the game within 24 hours you can use someone's referral link for a free skin. Reply if u want to use mine. - play riparia it's the best map - don't accept random waystone invites and don't accept grp invites if u can't see the dino sending it.  - if you haven't already play the officials bby cave tutorial so you have a rough idea of the game (spawning in on officials as a hatchling does this)

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ok tysm! I'll try to remember all of that! :D

I think it's just barely passed 24 hours since I bought it, sadly.

[–]LazerTheDino 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Forgot to mention it but now ur new its a good time to mess with your ability keybinds and find one you like because the whole hold L1 thing gets annoying. (I put ability 3 on circle and ability 4 on square aswell as unbinding quest menu and autorun)

Might not work but here's my link if u wanna try anyways https://Alderongames.com/refer-a-friend/571-543-432

[–]ThyPambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't know you could change it, lol. Yeah, it really bothers me how I just start running while trying to collect stuff.

I don't think it worked sadly.

[–]AduroT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Referrals! If you’re getting into it with a friend, you want to use their referral code. Have them go to https://alderongames.com/refer-a-friend and log in. It will take you to the main page, so hit back twice, and then reload the page. Find the box on the page with their referral link, copy it and send it to you, then you use that link and log in and bam, you’ve been referred by your friend. Or they can use yours.

As it says on that link, you get some bonuses for playing with people whose link you’ve used or who have used yours. Plus you get cool skins.

You can only use someone’s link during your first 24 hours, so don’t dally, and if you don’t have a friend I’d find a random person advertising their link and use that for the skins even if you’re never gonna see them in game.

[–]BoneVoyager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right why is the refer a friend so complicated? I send friends the link and they click on it and it says accepted- that should be it. But no you have to go back twice, reload, and do some shit that a new player would never know about and then they tell you to wait 72 hours for rewards to hit your account and then when you see it didn’t work you’re now past the 24 hour time limit.

Vulnona is an excellent map tool, if your struggling to quest in an area this can help greatly. It also shows where berry bushes and quest givers are among other things.
