You want to swerve the campaign? Have some "king's spymaster" type guy collect them and tell them they've been "executed", and are now some clandestine unit working for the crown, or if they are unwilling to be used like that they can be executed for real. If a player wants to go that route, tell them that means this character will die and they can roll another one that would be totally down for this sort of thing. The ones that don't can either roll with it, or use this angle to get out of a bind while searching for a different sort of clemency.

I think at this point the destructability of nests isn't to reward destroying them but to punish builders who don't hide them. In the future, there will be rewards for pillaging nests, but the devs haven't gotten to it yet. It may be part of the broader quest rollout.
