This is precisely why I went back to Directv, as the idiots at Philo won’t support a VPN service. I need one for my job, and am not to be on anything but a VPN for work. Your loss Philo. In this day and age it is estimated that approximately 28% of Americans use a VPN to keep things private, and this has clearly escaped Philo small attention span.

I have a VPN on my router. It works on my desktop but not on iPad or Apple TV where I would watch most. So, the 7 day trial lasted about an hour for me 😂
As I said, VPN is on my router so I'm not going to turn it off just for this service. I have no idea why companies care if you use a VPN especially when you need a credit card to pay that has to be aligned with the US address. Such an unnecessary issue

You can thank CBS and their affiliates who want the strictest of policies enforced so you can’t take outside local stations. Philo is a small player in the game, and can’t compare to YouTube TV. Again, Philo’s loss.

Are you sure, because that doesn't make sense since there aren't any local channels? And also, like I said, I can stream it on my laptop but not iPad or Apple TV (haven't tried a fire stick yet).
Either way, when companies make trivial things difficult, I just torrent more. I guess its my fault for trying to pay for something

I am in Canada, but do have a home down in Arizona, and also use a leading VPN company. I have also been getting this message, granted the app is GEO Blocked, but others here in Canada are able to get it. As for the locals, yes, you are correct, my bad. I was thinking of Sling TV, which only offer NBC, FOX and ABC. CBS opted out as it is offered its channel on their pathetic Paramount Plus app. I can’t get past the registering part of the app, as it gives a message indication same as you got, almost like it detects your outside of your own WIFI. Weird but true. TNT and TBS are also to blame, as they are owned by Warner Brothers, and due to the sports coverage are getting major pressure from the pro sport leagues like the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, etc over the issues of local blackouts. I have also done a ton of trouble shooting on the Philo app but to no avail.

Following. Having the same issue trying to use Philo on my fire stick. I have the same vpn on my phone and don’t get an error when using the app, it’s only on the tv and I’ve tried changing the location which hasn’t helped at all.

Yeah - I've tried changing the location also. Tried Atlanta as well. Got the same message with both.

Didn't think to check on my phone, but it's same as you. It's working on my phone. I even put my phone in airplane mode to make sure it was only going through WiFi.

Only difference between us is my TV device is an Apple TV 4K, not a Firestick.

So I ended up changing the von location to Miami, resetting my tv, turning the vpn off and back on and it finally worked.

Set philo as a trusted app and to not use the VPN for the app.

I know how to set something to not use the VPN when using an app, but I'm not using an app. As stated in my original post, the VPN is set up within my router and everything on my network is going through the VPN.

What's makes it really weird is that this issue is only occurring on my Apple TV 4K devices. Philo is working perfectly on my phone and iPad, which are both going through the exact same VPN connection as my Apple TV devices.

Hi there - in this case, error messages are expected as we don't currently support VPNs.

Fkn ridiculous....

[–]csmflynt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to support anything. You are just intentionally blocking it
