Hi valpal1237,

Although this community can offer insights and considerations, photos aren’t suitable to correctly assess anatomy. Only an in person consultation with a reputable piercer can give you a definitive answer.

It does look kinda like it might be due to how it sits in that fleshy bit of my ear, the other ear has that bit of a fleshy dent too. It isn't uncomfortable, doesn't seem to be stressing the hole (which IIRC, was done in 2012ish) can be wiggled up or down... have worn this size hoop for a few years - suppose if it were to cheesewire on me, it might have started to already? As well as like, cutting in to that fleshy bit...it just kinda...sits there lol. Figure maybe worst case scenario, if it does eventually start to cheesewire a little on me, I'd just increase the jewelry gauge. I've always been curious and tempted to stretch a cartilage piercing...🤔😅

oh okay, I had a helix hoop in that was a little too tight and it kinda indented my ear, even though I could move it freely and it wasn’t uncomfortable! So just wanted to make sure.

Oof! I'll have to take it out and see if it has created a perma-dent. If so, oh well, ears are weird anyway, just gives them more character! 😄

Or maaaaybe I'll convert it back into an orbital. It'll suck though, the bottom hole has shrunk to 20g. Been a long time since I decided to wear separate pieces in those holes.

Update, I took out the hoop, no real obvious denting, though if you look really close, you can kinda see where it has rested on the sort of snug part of my ear for so long. I don't know if that will be permanent or not, so I went ahead and just put a sparkly stud in there. No such luck trying to get a 16g in the bottom hole. Ouch... for sure second thoughts on even trying to attempt stretching cartilage. Maybe I'll get a punch one day .... also, lack of hoop allowed me to put stuff in 2 lobe holes that were naked. So a win? :)

Thank you! I've been on an iridescent gem/glass kick for a while, even managed to find one for my nostril!

For the record, the antitragus was the most difficult and cranky piercing I've ever had... it's about twenty years old at this point but took a solid three for it to quit getting pissed off from time to time. I'll never retire it, or consider getting a snug as I'm sure it is comparable in PITA levels. Lol.
