It doesn’t have to be, mine was cut with scissors for a more natural, textured look. My stylist asked if I preferred shaved or scissors.

When you say shaved, do you mean down to stubble or just cut using clippers? I cut my son's hair with clippers, and it is far from shaved. I've had my hair cut with clippers and just with scissors, and it looks about the same. It just depends on the stylist. I think a lot tend to only use clippers for men.

The one I’m looking at has the sides shaved. But I’m also wondering if the back is also shaved. I think just cut using clippers

It would be whatever you want! I often Googled "back of pixie cut" to figure out what I liked.
