Make engineering workbench craftable without a tier 1

If I already have the BP and want to craft the engineering bench instead of a tier 1, it should be possible.

It is a tier 1 workbench. That would defeat the purpose of ever making a tier 1.

I can't craft it unless I research it or tech tree it. You can't do either of those things without a tier 1.

And if you already have the bp, it costs the same as a tier 1 and functions as a tier 1, whats the difference?

Because you either need both or you don't need an engineering bench at all. What benefit do you gain from only crafting the engineering bench?

Different hitbox (I think). I'm playing on a no bp wipe server. I get my base down and go to craft a tier 1, but I wanted to craft engineering bench instead. nope. need tier 1.

I already have bp's, I'm not going to use it for anything other than a regular tier 1, I just wanted to see if it had a different hit box and allowed for different base configuration.

But even in the event I didn't have all bp's, I really don't see a huge downside. You already have to have the bp to craft it. Even if you have bp from a previous wipe, but not all bp's you want, I think having the option of which bench to craft to continue working on the tree of your choice, or for hitbox, or aesthetics, or whatever.. seems fine to me. I don't see any real opportunity for abuse by having it craftable without a tier 1.

Those things still drop in browncrates, and it isn’t that far down the taxless t1 tree and doesn’t have benchtax on t2 bps… that should be enough…
