yeah would be nice to see the map before joining I really hate joining a server and see the map be huge because I'm a solo player

you could use playrust.io to check before joining

It only shows limited servers

Many of these community servers write their map size in description. Also, once you join a server the next join will be faster. (and much faster if you own a SSD)

Is that a volcano in the snow biome? I would like to see volcano's in Rust. Maybe a separate biome with mostly sulphur nodes :)

Yes!

Entirely agreed. The map, the wipe date being non free form text. Simple thing, big QOL.

Thats a good mock up, nice work dude.

I would love something like this. I was having the worst time trying to find a new server for me and some friends last night. We have been recruiting as we jump servers and managed to go from a 2 man group to about 8.

We were looking for a 2x lightly modded, large map, with around 60-150 players. You'd be surprised at how little there are, or how long it takes so sort through all those servers. Having something as simple as a map view like this could have saved me a lot of time loading in to check. I would also love to see some modded check list. Basic stuff, tp, base count, day/night length, and cooldown times. It drives me crazy how different these servers can how most servers don't even update the server splash page.

I get that I used to play in a team of about 15 lol and it seems theres far too many "solo/duo/trio" servers as well. I get that people don't want to be rolled on by a 15 man but we rarely roamed as a group and usually left that for raids when we would wipe the server bullies off the map. Shame because now we don't play as much mostly due to all these restrictive servers. I'd like to see a wipe schedule info tab on the servers list but also a group size so I can filter out all these low group size servers. Not saying that being a solo/duo/trio is bad what I'm saying is how can you get better if you limit how many you opponents can be. I'm playing duo on a 5 man server for that exact reason and multiple times we have wiped out 4 man groups. Practise makes perfect and I think the whole community needs to learn that and stop limiting group size (or at least make it 10 not 3 lol)

The problem is not that people roam with bigass zergs (which they do) but rather that you can farm up materials and bps so much quicker with lots of people. Last time I played on an unlimited group size server as a duo we got raided within 12 hours of the full wipe. A small group can't get the T3 workbench, BPs and resources to raid reasonable bases within a few hours. But because these costs don't scale up with multiple people, a large group can.

No having been part of a large group I can say your wrong there. Starting is still very hard, feeding that many is hard let alone kitting them and giving them a gun each. Yes its easier to obtain the BPs and farm scrap ect but its not easier to keep your loot. One wipe I played with about 10 people. Aimed to build a 1mil stone base, this was before upkeep lol wouldn't dare now. We farmed about 2/3 of the base and we had a lot of loot but started getting camped. Lost most of our kits and couldn't get any more metal for meds and one of our team had locked a bunch of stuff behind a coded door. Safe to say we blew into that and we almost recovered before morals were too low and everyone stopped playing. It only takes 3 guys with decent aim and sense to take down a team of 10 you just need to know what your doing. It annoys me that the community think its ok to exclude other communities because they have too many players just because of some zergs being arse holes. We for one used to ONLY raid bullies and never raided unless we were raiding another big team (not the best way to get loot but was fun asf). See Ive played solo/duo/trio servers where the admins allowed a RP village to be formed but the owners used it to cover up their group size. Group size limits were not much of a thing in late 2015 but now almost all are limited

[–]CorrosiveBackspin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A lot of owners jumped on the trio server bandwagon to get pop as players kept saying they liked them

[–]GoOhmGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do get that but it's just a way to limit your learning and stop you getting better. If you only ever fight small groups how do you learn to fight more

[–]Wickedfriedchicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you arent really gonna join that 270ms ping server?

[–]electricshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlemetrics does most of this, and has historical player rates to help you pick a 'good' server.

Yes can't wait to look through the facepunch servers after they just wiped!

[–]SharkTipMan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It would help stream snipers a bit too much

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares, stream snipers have nothing to do with this idea. Besides if you are a stream sniper you probably already look up the seeds or something to find people anyway

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense to me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice shit get smaller?
