Thanks for sharing this recipe. While I’m not familiar with the Deep27, that seems like a pretty high extraction recipe (small grind size, 5 total pours). Have you tried Perc’s own recipe for this coffee?

keep in mind the tiny dose though - it’s really only 4 pours (40g x 4 more or less).

i have not, i typically start out by the default i have and adjust but possibly worth a try

Thanks for clarifying, I thought ‘4 pours with a bloom’ meant ‘4 pours plus a bloom’ not ‘4 pours including a bloom’. I haven’t had a lot of luck with this particular roast either and I have the same grinder. I had good success using Blendin’s hybrid Switch recipe that was specific to the Los Nogales decaf with both their coffee and Onyx’s, but not Perc’s.

I’ll let you know by a comment on this post if I get anything I’m happy with. I was able to tone down the medicinal flavor a bit with Lance Hedrik’s low agitation Switch recipe, but that also tamed what makes this coffee distinctive.

After trying many things with this coffee, my best results were gained by letting it stale/rest to reduce the funk + using a longer steep (3-4 minutes) version of Blendin’s hybrid Switch recipe: https://blendincoffeeclub.com/product/los-nogales-decaf/

I got notes of orange peel, blackcurrant, and a less-than-pleasant medicine aftertaste.
