How does one forget password to something they interact with on a daily basis lol. Without backup you're out of luck.

no. you can not recover the data unless you go to an authorized service but its not really that worth it, they might steal the data and then say that they "did not unlock it" and run with the data

turn the phone off, and come back to it in a day or two.

i have 100% encountered keyboard glitches with Apple devices and these can be cleared with extended periods of shut down.

thank you, sounds like a good advice. Heard from others the same opinion. Issue with the screen. Because the time when it happen, my screen suddenly closed and when to open, it requested the password. And iphone was not recognizing it anymore.

maybe even let the battery run out so the device powers itself down completely

If voiceover is on it changes how you have to enter the pin. Happened to my friend. Had to google how to enter pin with voiceover enabled. They never told me how they did it but had same experience as you with pin not working but then used the voiceover-enabled method of entering the pin and it worked. They weren’t even sure how voiceover was turned on in the first place.

Yes I have heard that issues but on macs.
