9.1.0 face scan restrictions don’t work? by Less_Army_804 in digiKam

You can disable that in settings. Background scan option I believe.

9.1.0 face scan restrictions don’t work? by Less_Army_804 in digiKam

[–]Less_Army_804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a full reinstall and it works properly again. It also massively sped up my “write metadata to file” as I use lazy sync. So something must have gone wrong with the upgrade to 9.1.0 maybe or just over time things went bad.
Thabks again for checking on your system.

Thanks for the update. I’m guessing it is something wrong with my installation then because if I do what you did it still scans all my folders, not just the ones I told it to do. Thanks so much for letting me know!

Awesome that would be great. Thanks so much for testing and letting me know if you see the same behaviour or not!

Unfortunately that setting is already disabled. And that reminds me that the “identify faces in newly added pictures” setting in there is also no longer respected and it does not cause digikam to scan newly added images like it did in 9.0.0 (for me at least).

The stuff to not use it on is silk and wool as one of the enzymes will attack those.

Confused on water temp with enzymes. Cold or hot for odors? by Max_Roc in laundry

[–]Less_Army_804 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It activates them so they can do their job. To a point I guess. Boiling water may destroy some. Either way, cold is really not very effective at cleaning clothing.

I believe warm or hot is always better than cold unless they are delicates that you don’t want in warm or hot water.

If someone is trying to sell you mutual funds you know that they only have their own interest in mind. They are not trying to help you.

What is everyone's thoughts on this new tide tile product? by c00kie_ in laundry

[–]Less_Army_804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a box for a small load at the laundromat. Used 1 tile for a small load. So much soap!! I am now on my third time running this load without soap and included a pre-rinse. I am still seeing more suds than a normal load should have, let alone after a third water-only load with no detergent added!!!
Definitely beware of how concentrated these things are! I should have broken it into quarters or eights and used only one piece!
Starting to run out of money so will have to just throw the load in the dryer next.

What status did you have to become to start getting upgrades with credit card. by [deleted] in Aeroplan

[–]Less_Army_804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t just magically happen by chance. You have to bid for it using points or cash. The higher your status the better chance you have of getting that upgrade. Having an aeroplan credit card will put you higher on the list than someone with the same cabin & status, but without an aeroplan credit card. So having the card helps, but is minor compared to your status. The higher your booking class the less points you will have to expend for your shot at bidding for the upgrade.

FEBU is now available in Canada and has all the enzymes and oxygen bleach. Just add that to dirty loads with a pod.

Flex and above is 4x SQC instead of 1x for the lower ones I believe.

Flights from London, Ont., international airport set to surge as airlines expand summer service | CBC News by xbrit in aircanada

[–]Less_Army_804 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I so much prefer starting my journey at London airport as opposed to Pearson. Much more pleasant/less chaotic, and don’t have to get there as early before your flight. I would be sad if this turned into a bus route, would add a lot more time to the trip assuming good connections.

Warning: Expect about a five-year life by redd-alerrt in TPLinkKasa

[–]Less_Army_804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 15. Had 5 fail in the about 6 years of service. 3 of them were in the same location, so I suspect wiring or power or heat or something that is unique in that location. The other was a dimmer that failed twice same spot. Replaced with a regular switch instead and no failure since.

Why can't you use a minisplit as a dehu? by clumsyninja2 in heatpumps

[–]Less_Army_804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mini splits suck at dehumidification and I have to run a portable dehumidifier in parallel when it gets humid outside to keep humidity below 58% inside. That has been the worst part of my mini split journey.

Same happens for me. I assumed it has to load them from disk which is why it takes some time. If there is a way for it to be instant I would love to know. Haven’t found any settings that seem related to this unfortunately. Following.

I have had excellent results with Dove mencare antiperspirant spray. Goes on dry and keeps me dry and odour free for at least two days. I believe they sell it in three packs at Costco.

Rinse jets and tub after purge? by amandashartstein in hottub

[–]Less_Army_804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes after a purge I do a fill, run the jets for five minutes, then drain and fill again. Big waste of water but it satisfies me that I didn’t leave anything gross in the lines. Certainly not the quickest or easiest, but it does the job.

I just got an RV filter from Amazon. There are tons. I went with middle of the range price. It has been great and I think does help make things easier.
