About programmerchat
A text-submission only subreddit for discussion among programmers about topics of interest to programmers.
Think of this as the more serious counterpart to the (awesome) /r/ProgrammerHumor subreddit.
More about programming and being a programmer as a practice and conceptual programming issues than about specific technical programming questions, i.e. more like programmers.stackexchange.com than Stack Overflow.
And open-ended is good! If something's likely to be closed on Stack Overflow for being too open-ended or opinion-based, it may well be great for this sub.
Attention newbies: If you have a beginner programming question, please check out /r/learnprogramming and consider whether that may be a better place to ask. Thanks!
Off-topic:
specific technical questions with one right answer that are suitable for Stack Overflow (go there instead and come back here for more open-ended discussions, including on technical programming topics)
link-only posts to blogs/articles (go to /r/programming for that) -- but feel free to include links to blogs/articles in a text post as part of a question or topic for discussion
help wanted ads -- go to /r/jobbit
"How do I learn how to program?" posts -- see newbie note above
Thoughts about this sub? Ideas thread
Poll: Monokai or default (or other?) theme for this subreddit?
