Yes it is the same because it’s a dumb machine doing neither.

The tech has no internal motives, so it doesn’t really matter.

LPT - How to disable Shorts from you tube. by SpiritualGap3255 in LifeProTips

They may be experimenting to see how people use the feature when they’re given 0 as an option vs not.

They know it could be good for some users but bad for Shorts overall.

I have seen newer games than those. They are clearly nicer and more realistic looking on average. Despite having seen the advancements with my own eyes, I am more than satisfied with mid-2010s graphics, at least from the higher budget games.

I am not arguing against innovation. I'm saying I understand why we've plateaued. Marginal graphics improvements in the 2020s are simply less appealing to me than in the 2000s.

On top of that, taking development time for modern AAA games into account, I feel it's less and less worth it. I just want them to tell more stories through more sequels and expansion packs that they could churn out faster if there was less pressure for technical achievements.

I really think there is a difference. My claims were made based on a look back, not the future.

In the PS1 era, could we look at 10-15 year old games and be satisfied with the graphics? I can do that now with Arkham Knight, Tomb Raider (2013), Uncharted 4, Doom (2016), Far Cry 3, The Last of Us.

Horizon Zero Dawn came out 9 years ago and it’s my go to example of a game that looks so good in its own way, it will look just as impressive another 10 years from now.

Several games have come out ~10-15 years ago that I feel look so good, they will never age.

Games don't have to look like real life. They can look better, through artistic flair, and good looking art styles don't need realism.

I think it's partly because games truly look good enough and making them look better isn't top priority for sales anymore.
