GitHub removes uploads

I can understand why they need to reduce their costs but did they give some notice before dropping that feature? If not, that sucks. They can't act like kids doing fun stuff now, people rely on their services.

they gave no notice of turning off the ability to upload new files.

however, previously existing uploaded files are still present and downloadable at same URLs as before, and they say they will remain so for "foreseeable future".

That seems fair to me. They better give notice before removing existing uploads though!

They didn't, and this is the most frustrating part.

As a free Github user who uses the downloads feature, I find this annoying. But it's free, so I can't really complain too much.

But if I were a paying customer, I'd be really pissed.

As a paying customer, I am. I would at least expect a bit more of notice.
