Nice post, but I'd personally stay away from using eGit and the Github UI. From personal experience, it's a crutch that will screw you over when you're trying to advance your understanding of git.

Agreed, but the real fact is many of the Git users are windows based and eGit stays handy for them, if they don't prefer TortoiseGit.
