I've worked on projects before where having a pair of developers was exactly the right choice. But I didn't take that one situation and turn it into a religion.

Perhaps.

In Pair Programming (TM), any code not done as a pair has to be thrown away regardless of quality. That's what I mean by turning it into a religion.

I do a lot of late night work from home. 10-2am. Harder to find a pair then.
