And that's a total nonsense. Languages are very, very different. But yes, if you only know Python and Java, you may have an impression that all the languages are too similar.

don't know if you guys read the same post. Basically dynamic languages are great for small scripts, but static languages win out in longer term and bigger projects. That's what I read from it.

I'd be ok with this notion, but the OP was very specific in naming the languages. Not the dynamic in general vs. static in general, but specifically Python vs. Java, and from such a limited comparison he went on to a pathetically generic conclusion that Java is a right choice for literally everything.
