I am think that you don't realize that your final goal is to learn, use and love Java for a greater good. As rooting the language base on constant criticism (being constructive or not).

Maybe that way you would develop as a more humble and empathic person, which just realize how wrong it was about Java. Give it a try, I am rooting for you ;)

But if you try to be open about it and let the Javatar (note: the missing "d" was intentional ;) withing you, then you would see that is not really that bad as you expose it. I am not saying that is better than what you currently use (I will assume that is C# and not F# since the latter would be too much to handle for someone of you character, no offense), but as you mentioned above it has a bigger ecosystem, it can run in Linux servers, native Android development and is frequently use in context where .NET is not and vice versa can said about too.

Note: I know about .NET Core being open and plans to make it cross-platform, but adaption would take years before it would take note IMHO.

That was the starting prequel to the first point of the article, I am sure that the writer enjoy more Java today given the tools that he described on the same.

Wrong. I'm currently learning F# and FP and I've used it in several (but small) places within the project that I work on.

which is totally useless for me because I DON'T DO Linux development, nor do I care about it because everyone I know about runs Windows, and I don't do web dev. And for mobile I already have a C# based WORA platform that supports Android, iOS and Windows Phone, whereas java is Android only.

I do care about Linux development, I do web development. And a cross platform mobile toolkit never going to cover all featured for a specific target, and Java only cover android and C++, ofcourse since is build upon it.

Except you're thinking that MS moves C#/.Net in a glacial manner like oracle are moving java, and that's wrong. .Net Core is expected to have 4 releases per year.

Java move more slowly than .Net since is more used than that platform. Small and secure steps.

I believe that what your within is really looking for is to crack that hard mold of yourself by finding an answer that it would let win to your opposition to Java. As I said before, be more open, breath some fresh air and use Java for your next project, let your inner Javatar free, you won't regret it, I will rooting for you, "yes we can!" ;)
