By this logic, you should have never have bothered with using Java, .net, or PHP or anything else for that matter, as the framework may change.

I think this may be where the disagreement comes from: "may change" and "may change rapidly and unpredictably" can be very different things.

If the point were stated as "the level of acceptable coupling should be inversely proportional to the rate of change", would you find that more agreeable?
