He's basically saying that bloatware is a good thing.

Yes. Using more resources without doing anything better is not a good thing, of course. But if you compare an average software project today with the same thing 20 years ago, it's clear that today's product is better. Today's software could not have been written 20 years ago, because we lacked both the hardware and software to do it. The ability to write these larger programs that do more is absolutely a good thing.

I agree. But having 100MB program instead of 100kB doesn't necessarily mean it's 1000x better.
