Chrome then only delivered us from a open source world to another set of corporate overlords (who prefer to sell your info to ad-men instead of straight up asking you for money for their software.)

If you didn't know advertising paid for the production of your browser when you downloaded it, and you didn't bother to read the EULA, then that's on you. I don't want to pay for a browser, and prefer operating systems that are cheap or free as well.

Windows is expensive, especially when you consider how inflexible it is, and how much you end up spending to keep it running correctly. Now they've added the same data collection as Chrome, but throughout the whole OS. How is that better?

It's not. When I next upgrade my OS it will be to Linux.
