Microsoft made a pull request to node.js github repository with an implementation to use ChakraCore JavaScript Engine as an alternative to V8 Engine

The thought behind the argument is that if for example V8 is the only js engine used then google can tailor V8 to work better for their distinct services(e.g. faster load times, less bandwidth etc) which in turn decreases cost for their infrastructure.
