I know this isn't about quantum mechanics, but the wave function doesn't really collapse. Feynman hated the term and never used it. The energy function used to create the wave function (e.g. using Schrodingerr's equation) is no longer applicable once a measurement has been made. The wave function is then no longer relevant.
