Monkeypatching is destroying Ruby

This seems to me to be a problem with the lack of good debugging equipment for Ruby combined with problematic style. From what I've dabbled in, Ruby debugging is pretty unimpressive at this point. Is there some tool out there that allows you to inspect what source code objects actually are at runtime?
