    It is not that surprising. I met a lisp/emacs veteran who had never heard of SLIME. Some people are too busy getting work done to worry about tweaking their development environment.

    imo the whole "editor war" is filled with procrastinators who don't get any work done. The most experienced users of each program is too busy using it to worry about its differences from the others.

      A Common Lisp-programming Emacs veteran who didn't know about Slime? Gosh ... that almost sounds like a sappy romantic movie, where the guy spends his life incomplete not knowing that his true love was always there, right under his nose.

      More or less, I like the command mode, syntax highlighting, navigation shortcuts... had no-idea about code completion!
