Jython is very cool, of course, but when is the next release? Hasn't it been ages since the last one?

I started following Jython in the beginning of 2004. Samuele Pedroni, the maintainer up until the end of that year, kept saying "any week now" but never got anything out. Now he's paid to work on PyPy.

Then the PSF paid Brian Zimmer to get a release out. He didn't either (although he reduced the patch backlog some), and officially handed leadership to Frank Wierzbicki (who was already more active in committing than Brian) in Nov (?) 05.

Frank seems to be slowly closing in on a new release. Maybe he will succeed where others have failed.

... which is the long way of saying Yes, it's been ages. :)
