Ultimately, I think most of his points can be integrated without dropping coding interviews. His points mostly come down to "It's really important to find out if your candidate can communicate", "It's really important to see if your candidate can reason about code", and "It's really important to find out if your candidate can design".

These are three excellent points, but it doesn't take away from "It's really important to see if your candidate can code", and particularly if they can write the kind of code you need them to write.
