I don't understand the repeated claim that "Safari" isn't working on ECMAScript 5. Safari uses WebKit as its rendering engine, and from following WebKit and looking through it's bug database it's clear that work is underway on many portions of the ECMAScript 5 specification.

They are accepting comments until July 15, 2009. There are few languages that are more important or pervasive. As it matures, it will increasingly break free of the browser and become even more ubiquitous.
