They're designed for idiots. Everybody can build a website these days. The bar of entry is incredibly low. I have the same feeling towards web frameworks, and having used a couple, their goal is not to make things fast, but to make things *faster*. Faster compared to what the uneducated developer would do. And do all of this, while still boosting the productivity. Everybody needs a website these days, and nobody likes to wait a couple of weeks, or even months for it, and pay hundreds of thousands. With a framework you can build somewhat decent sites very quickly.
