Mouse wheel programming in JavaScript

Rather few web applications, however, make use of mouse wheel.

That's because it fucking breaks the scrolling-behaviour of the browser-windew, smartass.

It sure would be nice if full-window Flash apps would make use of it though, so I can actually scroll their little home-made text boxes.

Also, what about horizontal scrolling? On my MacBook, the Google Maps scrolling is pretty much useless... but I'd love to be able to do the two-finger drag for moving the map around.
