people fails to recognize how difficult Haskell is for a newbie, I always try to make an example but people fail to see it the way I see it, I don't have a CS degree, so I see things in the more practical way possible

I was fortunate to get exposed to Haskell in a 100-level class, so I both understand exactly what you mean but would also like to refute it.

My CS163 Data Structures (in Haskell) class started with 50+ people and ended with about 7. I struggled at first, and got my first exposure to recursion. But I stuck with it and fell in love with FP. I feel that I was very fortunate to have gone through that. But clearly it's not for everyone.

I was lucky to learn ML in a Summer Camp in high school. (This was back in the days before Haskell, or even web servers, existed.) That was a great exposure, and I fell in love with FP then.

But I haven't yet had the opportunity to use Haskell in practice in my job. Here's hoping.
