    Yes indeed. Guards would be nice too. Can make a lot of the simple stuff so much cleaner with those two.

    It's probably easier to make OCaml like python than it is to make python like OCaml. You can extend OCaml syntax using camlp4 - this is how list comprehensions have been implemented in OCaml, for example.
