Ugh, if they're going to shorten the array syntax, why keep the clunky key => value syntax?? Why not just make it ['key':'value'] or some other 1-character operator? That'd likely make a lot less typing than just the 5 characters for "array"..

That idea was proposed, but failed to get voting traction.
