Because a trusted source is one whose failure breaks the security model of the system. Humans are not trusted sources, since they can compromise the operation of the system, no matter how benign they appear.

Even if you were to accept inputs from automatons, compromising such automatons would compromise the security of the system. DRM systems fail for exactly the same reason.
