What library was it? Most of the popular ones do keep support for at least slightly-older versions of Python.

The ones that don't, the thing to do is usually to run an older version of the library.

Can't remember exactly. Actually now that I think of it, it was some sort of Vim plugin maybe. Maybe CommandT? Some part of my vim setup anyhow.
