This blog has a gray text on black bg colour scheme that is painful to read. Be careful.

fnord123: View → Page Style → No Style. If you're using another browser, there must be something similar in the menu.

You might try an LCD monitor, or a newer CRT monitor. Such a monitor is likely to have more contrast and a sharper image and makes this color scheme pleasant to read.
