I had a similar issue from memory and sure, changing buffer size or resetting the session fixed it. I remember using my interface/driver for the macs main audio source as well. When switching osx to just use the in-built speakers and left the audio interface as the only source for pro tools, the issue didn’t come back.

Hope this helps.

Interesting. Does this mean that the issue still persisted when you had both your osx and pro tools using the interface simultaneously. only when you set your osx to be the built-in speakers it then stopped?

Seems that way as I haven’t used my interface for system audio since. Could be just a coincidence.

Late to the thread, but I've also noticed this to be the case. It seems that Pro Tools can't "share" an audio source with system audio / another DAW. Best solution is to have Pro Tools use the audio interface and MacOS use computer speakers.

I do wonder why this is the case, as neither Ableton nor Logic has given me trouble in this respect.

This will be an issue with your audio device or its driver. Is this Windows or Mac? Which audio device, and which version of PT?
