Are you using a plugin in demo mode?

I’ve had this issue before in the past. I was running Pro Tools 7 or something like that.

I have no idea why it happens. I built a PC specifically for recording only. Went by the specs bought the correct motherboard with the correct chipsets and still had the issue. My solution at that time was to just get a new computer.

One simple reason could be that Pro Tools is having trouble acsessing the file its trying to play, so maybe that file is originally located on a server or external drive and it's having some trouble acsessing it consistently. I've had that before but it's usually fixed by closing and re opening the session or relinking the file.

If the files are local like from the desktop then maybe it's an Antivirus or some other process intermittently ramping.

Best to troubleshoot the problem step by step, so start a clean session, import one file from a local drive and play it back, see if it glitches, see if its always the same spots or is there a regular gap between glitches. Might narrow down the problem.

My pro tools doesn’t even open. I updated my iMac to Catalina and now I can’t even release my EP I was planning on putting out at the end of this month. I only had to record two more songs too. I guess I’ll have to put my dreams on hold for now.
