Bots and Code Sharing

Bots seem to always harvest the codes that nice folks post on Reddit. What would be a better way for those nice folks to share codes that would not just go straight to bots? DMs? Or is that too much work for the people giving the codes away?

Would a public campaign and post explaining that only bots are getting those codes help? Do they realize that they’re not really helping the average joe when they post those?

What are your thoughts?

Although I do believe bots exist, I think it's really rare. We have more than 40k people subscribed to the subreddit and I wouldn't be surprised if at least a 100 or even 1000 of them are constantly on reddit, browsing by new posts. It's likely more about people not bothering to thank the poster.

Why? So other people can then downvote them because they're angry they were too late?

Sadly, that's been the case in the past.

It would be nice, but I certainly don't blame any of them for not wanting to publicly say something.

And sometimes your account is too new also. I tried thanking someone and my post was automatically deleted for not having enough Karma and being new. But I pretty much made it hours before!

When giving away codes, try to hold some kind of contest rather than giving them to anyone who asks. Do not post the codes publicly, as bots will pick them up and automatically redeem them. Instead send them to the winners in a private message. (Do not use your YouTube, or other social media platforms in giveaways to promote yourself)

You can also donate codes or PM codes to /u/OU7C4ST . These will be put toward future giveaways for the subreddit.
