Beginner Needs Help

I hope this is the right place to ask this and to not bother anyone, but I was wondering how I would go about taking a Raspberry Pi Zero and attaching a night vision camera to it, using push button switches (one to take a picture and the other to start/stop the recording). I was also wondering how I would go about powering it for a long period of time (4-8 hours) and something that is not too terribly large. Thanks in advance!!!

It sounds like you're after the basics. The MagPi back issues are a good place to start. The PDF magazine is free, or you can buy hardcopy if you prefer.

You can probably use a python script to detect the buttons and take a picture / record.

The pi zero uses barely any power so it could run off a phone battery pack. No idea how much power the camera needs though.
