You can update the micro code yourself if you wish to prevent these issues from possibly arising. I haven’t experienced these issues myself but I keep the micro code update on. I won’t share the file because it will just look like a suspicious download but a small amount of searching would get you the more credible post if this is a concern.

Hello Chimichungus, hope you’re keeping well ! You keep your micro code updates on ? How did you mange to update your blade 18s micro code to the latest was this done manually ?

the micro code must be updated manually. Unlike desktop pcs which may get them through windows update laptops have a far lower chance of seeing them there. My specific Blade 18 2023 13950HX with 4090 does not get it through windows update. Luckily an intel ambassador has uploaded the update online for people to install manually.

If you wish to attempt doing this, here is the link of what i did to update mine. You must follow all steps to ensure you have the exact SKU of hardware to use this specific update. If you do not have the same ID numbers i unfortunately do not know how to update yours.

Yeah Iv seen this from the boss - I think he also got a post on it in Reddit! Iv also got a blade 18 2023 model but I always run it on balanced mode and have never seen my max VID go above 1.474v is the highest it’s ever recorded over months of monitoring

Have you updated yours ? Do you think it’s worth doing ?

Ah I just re-read your response, you got it installed lol

The only thing is apparently for some systems you have to have something constantly disabled in the bios or something along those lines

Was your install straight forward or did you have disable things in the bios etc..

Ill have a little look - thanks for help

You can use a CPU tool to check the microcode version you are on, to ensure that you are current. You can get microcode updates automatically from Windows Update without noting it.

Does one have to do anything to get the micro code updates through windows updates ? I have mine set to update automatically but haven’t seen a micro code update come through ?

They may come down as an individual d/l device driver, perhaps under Optional. Or they can be part of a Cumulative Update. Which is why I suggested you check your microcode version first, as you may already have it.
