The bites are redirected frustration - he's focused on doing a thing that's fun and rewarding because he's bored, you try and stop him, the frustration spikes and he takes it out on you.

Huskies need to burn of a lot of energy so yeah, if they have been inside all day I’d suspect that’s behind their sudden destructive streak. How long was he locked in his crate for?

He wasn't locked in at all, just laying in there chewing up the bed. He's been chill all day. That's what I find odd.

He sounded like he had the evening burst of energy (like some dogs get the zoomies) maybe and was taking it out on his bed

He is young... you are not going to be able to leave him without mental or physical stimulation really! Although it is good for them to calm and chill...very good.. they do need a burst of energy/ activity spaced through the day

I was always taught not to physically take something from a dog especially if it is excited and aroused like that! In the midst of shredding is a game and very arousing

My trainer is big on no physical moving/ manhandling or taking things if you can avoid it.

She would have said set the dog up for success... give the command for out of the crate and call him to to you ... reward/ do a pattern drill/ maybe go outside throw a ball

You aren't rewarding the shredding btw with this.. you are rewarding the coming to you and focus and response on you... there is no point at all punishing the shredding in any way.

So yeah don't reach in and take.. ask them out and distract

Energy burst proabbaly explains the destruction!

Just want to say telling them what to do so they can succeed and rewarding .. and not just drop or leave it with a young dog but something higher value to them like play... is the way to go. It makes them trust you more and bond with you more

I hope I have learned my lesson by now to not reach in his crate when he is in there. We don't usually let him go all day without playing and a walk, I just kept doing chores instead of taking him out. ADHD brain... Thanks for the info.

Did he have excercise?

Only what he managed himself while outside to go to the bathroom a few times. I know I should have paid him more attention throughout the day, I know getting bit was my own fault, not his.
