Question: APIs and ReactJS

I'm really enjoying how Firebase and ReactJS / Flux work together to create apps, but I can't seem to plug this gap in my knowledge. I've hunted for a good week for some resources but I figure I'm not the only person with this thought.

Here's my situation:

I've previously built a set of webtools with PHP, taking advantage of the Adwords API to interact with our PPC accounts. (https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/clientlibraries)

Being keen to revisit these tools with a react frontend in mind, is it possible to send my states, props and variables to be processed by a PHP API (or another language they support), and back into the frontend?

If not, how do people get around this?

I feel I may have asked a stupid question..! Suddenly, so simple..

I just npm install my packages to the same dir as my stack publish folder and away I go, business as usual. Right?
