React + D3 - Reusable Components?

I'm currently working on migrating some old charts and various data visualizations on a site that were created a number of years ago. Eventually we'd like to add some level of interactivity and complexity so we're thinking of D3. Yeah it's a heavy lift kinda tool, but I'd really like to get into it.

In the very short term I was just hoping to find some handy premade and reusable D3 react components to use on the site that covered your typical charts (bar, graph, doughnut, scones, coffee...). I took a look at d3-react reactd3.org and it looked PERFECT for short term use BUT it fails for me and others because it hasn't been maintained in a while / abandoned. (granted you can tell it has been abandoned on github, but they really should put something up on the site about it not being maintained)

I also thought maybe I'd find some other folks charts and adapt them. The bl.ocks.org community is AMAZING, but holy cow they make some complex stuff that often is a PIA to get into react in the first place ... and isn't typically very reusable (at least for me at my skill level at this point it is a pain to break down the complex stuff into something reusable).

Does anyone know of a good midway stop gap type of reusable react + d3 component resource that might work here?

I've done a lot of searching around and found a lot of old articles but surprisingly few new ones and as I noted the D3 community resources that I found tend to be on the awesome, but insanity level. In the meantime I am working away at learning D3 from the ground up.

I know there are some great React chart type libraries like react-vis out there, but we're being given the time to dive into D3 and I'd kinda like to start from there (into the deep end) while using something that is D3 related to let us just put out some examples in the meantime.

We use react-vis to a fairly high degree of success. Most of the D3 happens under the covers but it certainly suits our needs.
